Book Summary
1929. Pitkin, philosopher and pundit, published prolifically during the late 1920s and the 1930s, writing textbooks, short stories, popular psychology, and numerous magazine editorials. His concerns over human intelligence and social decline emerged in textbooks on rapid reading and treatises on the psychology of success and achievement. He is most well known for his authorship of the best-selling nonfiction Life Begins at Forty, a self-help book that counseled all those who needed to learn to live more abundantly on less. In this volume he advocates that for the first time in the career of mankind happiness is coming within the reach of millions of people and that today happy living can be attained by at least six or seven people out of every ten, simply by the right education, the right organization of personal effort, and the right selection of one's life work and environment.
